Work boots are the key. Seriously...About your feet. Work boots are the key. Seriously. The higher ankle keeps your leg aligned, the hefty bottom won't bed in the middle the way sneakers do. Also they give much better traction on ladders so you don't slip off a rung. As a DIY junkie for years, this is my #1 rule I won't budge from. And they don't have to cost a fortune. As long as they're "sturdy". I bought mine on clearance from Target for $22 and I only use them for projects. They've lasted 5 years so far.<br /><br />Also, because they're heavier than sneakers, wearing them tone your legs and butt by working the muscles to lift them up. I've been known to lose 5 lbs every time I paint a room.
