I am really feeling the blog fest craziness. I don't think I've posted a "normal" entry in a long time. Life is truckin' along, keeping me busy, but I love the blogfests. I want to support my new blog buddies, so I sign up. Well, May has a blog fest every other day it seems. I guess I need to say no. *sigh* That's a hard one. They are just so much fun, and some really challenge me to step out of my comfort zone. Others I chicken out of *cough* bad girl *cough*...what were we talking about?
Revisions are coming along nicely. When I started this round, my word count hovered around 87,000 words. Over the last month I cut down to 84,000. Now I've reached the point that I am adding a few things for clarification or to tie down dangling plot lines. (Luckily only 2 of those that I know of). I've crept back up to 85,000 and think I'll stay pretty close to this area. I'm deep into chapter 23, rushing towards the climax. These chapters are quite long and I'm wondering if I need to break them up some more.
All in all, I feel like I have made a lot of progress since February. Some days I work on it a lot, other days not at all. I'm still in love with my idea and my characters. I can look at the old version, compare it to the new version and feel the success from hard work and perseverance. I'm getting really excited. Really excited, which scares me.
Blogfests are addicting. I sometimes forget to do a regular post or get distracted (it's easy to distract me).
ReplyDeleteI finally finished the outline of the first draft in my YA book. It's done and I've started the rewrite but thought it might makes things easier to have each chapter outlined on a note card. Never done it before but this is also my first rewrite so we'll see how both go.
Yay for progress. Hope things keep going well for you.
Well done on making progress. I did a LOT of planning for my revisions for such a long time, because of an editing course I was doing (How To Review Your Novel). It's paying off now as the actual rewrites are coming along easily because of the millions of notes I have on characters, plot, settings etc etc. As I finish each chapter, I save and load it to my Kindle. It's really motivating me to keep going when I see my book title and my name in amongst my favourite books :-)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like things are going really well with your novel. I'm glad that the fine tuning is working out and the word count, but mostly, it's wonderful that you still love the characters and the story. That's the most important thing. Good luck with it!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the wip! Woo hoo! I love it when things move ahead!
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm still revising my wip. But it's coming along nicely. (I can't wait until I'm done! =) )
Yay! I'm glad things are going well!! My WiP is a bit meh at the moment because I'm trying to catch up on course work BUT the other night I read a bit I can't even remember writing a loved the majority of it. That was nice :~)
ReplyDeleteAh, blogfests are so addictive. I'm going to have to say no at some point too *sighs* I don't want to though :P
I'm taking the long shot on my WIP's. But am commited to getting past starting and finishing revisions, which means less time in blogging. I just said no to one fest but will give my support by reading the entries.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear about your progress!
I love blogfests too! I had to double post on some days to keep up with my posting schedule and all the blogfests for May! Probably will have to continue that for a while!
ReplyDeleteYou have an award at my blog!
