The Magic Wakes at the Farmer's Market

First I want to say Happy Memorial Day and give a shout out to my brother. Thanks for serving to protect our rights and freedoms. Love you and can't wait to see you again in September.

I had some of the best fun ever on Saturday. After surviving the cold craft fair at the beginning of the month and only selling a handful of books, I needed to have a good experience. I bought my own tent, rented a day space at my local farmer's market for Memorial Day Weekend, and crossed my fingers for good weather.
From the Bentonville website.

The day was beautiful! I sold 11 books, 4 of Talia's necklaces and handed out a TON of bookmarks. Almost 200 of them. A lot of people's eyes lit up when I told them the book was available on Kindle and they said that's what they were going to buy. I hope they really do.

But the best part, and I mean the BEST part of the day, was talking to so many new and interesting people. Men, women, teens and little kids. They were genuinely interested in hearing about The Magic Wakes and the process I went through to get published. It was so much fun talking about it. The entire day reminded me how much I enjoy talking about the process and what I've learned over the last few years.

I miss doing that on here. So, even though that's technically what Unicorn Bell is for, I want to start some conversations over here again. I don't know everything, and there is still a lot to learn, but if you have questions please ask! I'd love to try and answer your questions about writing in general or the process of getting published.

Will I do the Farmer's Market again? Definitely. I've even heard that the Fayetteville crowd is more "eclectic". One of the people I talked with today suggested that my book might do really well there. My interest is peaked.

How are things going with you? Doing anything fun today for Memorial Day? Do you have any questions for me about anything?

Let's talk!

  2. Charity, glad you had a good day! You needed that. It's cool to discuss our books with those who are interested, although sometimes I don't know what to say. (I'm sure that amuses someone!)

    1. I'm sure it does amuse many, however I have brain freezes all the time. These people asked a lot of questions about how I got published. That at least was easy to answer.

    1. Thanks, me too.

It's weird I've been rather emotional about my brother today. Not sure why it really hit me how awesome he is today. I think it's because he's been overseas for almost a year and I miss him.

  4. So glad this day went better than the last. Now that it's getting warm, outdoor events should go better.

And no, I don't have anything fun planned for Memorial Day. I have to go and see the family.
