IWSG Excited like a kid on Christmas morning

I can't believe it's finally October! I'm a bundle of nerves and excitement. And this month, I get to quit my job and return to being a stay at home mom, homemaker, and writer. Seriously, it's all I can do to stay in my seat at work sometimes. I'm so ready to re-focus on my family, and my writing.

Lurking behind all of my excitement is the nagging little voice that I've taken too much time off. The characters from the stories I most want to finish have been sulky and quiet for several months now. And I've had so many new ideas that my brain is overflowing and as chaotic as ever.

I tell myself that it's OK. I need to give myself time to get back into the groove of things. Especially since my main focus needs to be on my family and my home. I have several projects that need to be done around the house, but there will be time every day for a little bit of writing. It's hard though. I want all of the stories that I had planned to finish this year finished already.

It's hard to know that in October you're no closer to your goals than you were in January. Some exciting things have happened though over the last month. The biggest being that I got my publishing rights back for my series The Magic Wakes. I haven't had time to work on getting new cover art or interior design, but that will all change as soon as I get to stay home again. I hope to have both books released before the end of this year. The best part is I'll get audiobooks for these now. I'll also be able to get back to my goal to finish the third book in the series. With any luck, that will be out sometime next year.

So, I'm alternating between excited and bouncing off the walls, and telling myself it's OK to take things slow.

Now, back to work I go. See everyone soon!

  2. Glad you get to quit your job! Don't panic that you've been away too long. Just do what you need to at home and let the writing slowly come back.

  3. That is exciting. I'd be bouncing in my seat all the time too. And probably spend a couple days getting nothing done because I've overwhelmed myself with the idea of of what I need done. LOL

  4. Nothing better than being a stay-at-home mom, and congrats on having that gift. Also congrats on receiving your rights back. Enjoy the excitement, and don't "expect" that flow. It'll come, just like breathing.

Hey, I'm I.B. Nosey, after all. I'm a professional, and I know how to do my job, so, like, ya know, believe me, kiddo. The Nose knows!

  6. I had no idea you weren't going to stay at your job. Good thing or not? Congrats on getting the rights back to your books. I had no idea they were in limbo. You've been away from blogging for too long. So many changes.

    1. Yes, lots of changes. I loved my job. I loved the wonderful people I worked with, but at the end of the day my family really needs me more. Years ago a dear friend once said, "You'll always need more money." That's the one thing that kept going through my mind. Family, my kids, and my relationship with my husband are so much more important than a paycheck...although that was the icing on the cake. I'll miss the wonderful ladies I worked with, but I'm looking forward to getting back to family and writing.

  7. Congrats on returning to writing & family full time. Too much time away? I had to put my writing career on hold for about 5 years. Life dictates what's the best thing to do. Good luck.

  8. Glad to hear you're excited about all the changes on the horizon. I hope you'll share your experience creating audio books. It's something I want to try one of these days.
