What's this Writer's butt I keep hearing about?

I'm not really blogging today. :) But I would love for you to check out my Monday blog post on my For Love of Food blog. It explains my idea for a summer fitness/weight loss challenge, which brings me to the post title.

I keep reading about this "writer's butt" disease. *cringes* Don't want no part of that, so I need to get mine moving! Check out the post and if you feel so inclined JOIN ME! I'm a social person and thrive under a health dose of competition. Men and Women Welcome!

  1. Hehe, I know that writer's butt. Got my own. Recently, I started cooking and eating healthier and hiding all the sweets from myself, and it works! I'm starting to lose weight, and I am slowly shrinking back into my pants.

Next thing, I want to increase my workout rate. I am absolutely no sports person, but I've found out things like swimming, jogging and weightlifting (with tiny weights) help me work faster and more, with my day job as well as with writing. Therefore I'll try to keep it up...

    Good luck with your challenge!

  2. Personally I love my writers butt. It gives me just the right amount of cushioning when I'm on a roll.

  3. I earned it from two sources: writing and piano playing, except that for the piano, it's called piano bench spread. Either way, it ain't pretty.

  4. Diandra, great plan! Good luck with your goals as well.

Jai, you make me laugh. Between writer's butt and giving birth to 4 kids, I can't take any more.

Lanna! You know I still think that awful rhyme when I see your name. You know, the one from freshman year and the broken piana. ;) I promise I'm trying to forget it! Piano bench spread sound bad too. I'm glad you stopped by. How's the writing going?

  5. Fortunately I don't have a writer's butt. Mine seems to be bigger from walking up and down the stairs during the winter with 30 + lbs in a backpack (I was too lazy to drive to the gym). At least it's a perky, muscular butt. If only other parts of me were so perky. ;)

  7. LOL, writer's butt! I wonder if sitting on an exercise ball while writing would help.

  8. Writer's butt just frightens me! That's why I love my treadmill. =)

  9. No writer's butt here - I go to the gym 4-5 times a week!

  10. Sorry, I will not be joining in the quest to lose weight. Since I'm growing a baby, I'll be getting all jolly and round. ;)

  11. Haha, so I hopped on over to the other blog and sat and read and thought. And then I giggled. Not because I think the idea is funny or doomed, no no.

It was because you sugessted we find out how many sit-ups we can do. Charity, I can barely do one. Still want me to join?

And also I'm terrible at running for fun, like really bad. Unless there's an real emergency I don't really do it...

I mean, I'll think about it, I do need to exercise more, but promise you won't get mad if I loose very little weight, run incredibly slowly and manage maybe 2 actual real sit-ups before fainting?

  12. Amber, no apologies needed! Make sure you take care of both of you.

Mia, Haha! My friend Laura said the same thing. She suffers from vertigo and running makes her want to throw up--which is really sad because she used to be my running buddy. I need to clarify you don't have to participate in each thing. Pick and choose and find something exercise worthy that YOU enjoy doing. Walking, swimming, biking, etc. I've been running all year and not lost a pound. :( So my goal is to keep running, but eat better. It should totally be up to you.

BTW, from your picture, you don't look like you need to lose any weight. I'm just saying...

  13. I have been slacking off my exercise program the last month, and planned on going after work today, if I felt like it. Thanks for the reminder that I need to go no matter what. lol.
