Birth of a Novel January 9th

I should be hanging my head in shame. There is no progress to report on Faerie Wings or To Win the Game. I did however redecorate my living room. Although, that was only one day out of the week. We bought new couches and painted. Everything else still worked with the new design. Yay!
Most of the week was spent cleaning or enjoying the beautiful weather we had in North Carolina. The week started really cold and then perked up to a balmy mid 60s for several days. There was no way I was staying inside during such lovely weather. I carried my digital recorder with me and made some notes as ideas popped into my head for either novel.

I also played a bit with the Dragon software. One of these days I'll get around to posting about that, but I need to learn more before then. The day I played with it, I actually wrote a scene from Battle for Sendek (book 3 in the series). The other project I worked on was my short story Fallen Angels. It's almost ready to submit. :)

Wow! I guess I actually did get some writing done last week.

I also created a new website for homeschool cooking classes because I got a phone call about it. The lady was supposed to email me the details for the homeschool fair but I haven't heard back from her. I'm ready when she does though. If you're mildly curious THIS is what I do to earn some extra cash at times.

And finally, I worked some more on my new website. I'm considering switching to wordpress. It has some nice features, but it's taking some getting used to. I like the control that I have over the pages and the ability to create drop down menus.  It just seems easier to get organized and have areas for specific projects. But its easier (for me) to personalize the backgrounds here on blogger.

My biggest concern is will my followers move over there with me? For January I'm going to post here and there. Does anyone know if/how I can just reassign the link to this page to that page?

Anyway, the new website is more novel oriented in address at least--The Sendek Saga

How did your writing week go?

  1. It's almost 11 and I've only done one thing on my to do list. It wasn't write.

...As for wordpress, I just jumped back to blogger. I miss the extra pages, but I got more spam and on March 3 wordpress people will lose their GFC. It seems like there was another issue I had w/ wordpress, but I can't remember what. I will say I liked being able to control my page. Google has a serious lack of customer support which is why I jumped in the first place

  2. I forgot to plug my Birth of a Novel button in my post, but I had a pretty decent week last week. Made my goals so I'm happy about that.

It sounds like you have nothing to hang your head in shame about. Got in quite a bit of work, though not on exactly what you may have originally thought would get the most work.

So yay for progress and love the look for the living room :-)

  3. Sounds like you did some writing to me! I wrote another scene this weekend for my next book and jotted down more ideas on my outline.

  4. Wow, you did a lot more than you give yourself credit for! Congrats! I heard wordpress has some nice features but I'm on the fence about them. Will be nice to see how you do with it!

  6. You seriously did a ton of work! Redecorating your living room (looks great), creating a new web site and getting some writing done sounds pretty impressive to me. I'm not a big fan of wordpress. It seems more complicated than blogger but maybe it will be fine once you get used to it. Talk to some current wordpress users.

  7. Wordpress will kill your following. That's one reason Patrick Dilloway a.k.a. Roguemutt moved from wordpress to blogger a few months ago.

  8. Wordpress irritates me because the blogs that use it as a host don't have an easy accessible "follow" feature.

Your living room looks lovely. ^^ I like the brown.

  9. Whew! I think I'll stay right here. Sounds like Wordpress makes it hard on the followers and Beth said they are losing the option of Google Friends Connect.

Yep, think I'll stay put. I hate moving anyway. Too much work, and my back keeps telling me I'm older than I think.

  10. The living room looks great. I had no idea you were in NC. I'm near Winston. The weather is nuts isn't it? Shorts in Jan? As a matter of fact I'm going out today to clean the yard.

  11. Looks like you did plenty this week! Good job! I love your living room.

Yeah that whole Wordpress thing....I think I want my website pages to be wordpress, for those drop down menus and stuff, but I plan to keep my Blogger blog. My friend who knows about this stuff is helping me, and she says there's a way to just link your blog to your website. I'll have to ask how. :D

  12. Sounds like you've been very busy and we can't steam ahead with our writing every single week - life often needs to take priority!

I haven't made heaps of progress lately either but I'm hoping this weekend will make up for that. If not, oh well! It happens! I'm tired of setting such high expectations for myself so I've decide to cut me some slack. Hopefully I'm successful with that! :-)
