Nano Day 1 Report

I started off pretty good, cranking out 1,100 words in an hour this morning. Then life claimed my attention as I finished the community newsletter (blech! I really don't enjoy this job any more), and then disappeared into the pages of Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins.

A friend brought it to me at church yesterday. I wrote first, did my "job" and then read the whole book today. Now I'm half way through Mockingjay. My goal? Finish tomorrow so I can focus on my writing. I just couldn't wait until December to finish the series.

I hope I don't regret not writing as much as possible today. It's 8pm now and I'm FORCING myself to stop reading. I'll wait half an hour and then try and write for another hour before bed.

For those doing Nano, how did your first day go?

  1. My first day is going well! I'm at 2600 and change and plan to write for a while more before bed.

  2. 1100 is great! Any progress is good! I got up at 4 am and was able to get 1766 done. Of course, I'm regretting it right now. I can hardly keep my eyes open for Castle...my favorite show!

  3. Good luck with NANO! I don't take part, but enjoy hearing about others who do!

  4. Enjoyed reading about your first NaNo day, and you sounded like me, I always get lost in the pages of a book and then (somewhat) regret not doing (writing) what I originally planned.
but 1000 words is great for such a short amount of time, so don't worry about it :)

  5. Great job Summer and Sherrinda! I finished Mockingjay today and hope to have my brain back by tomorrow.

I wrote some in my notebook in the carpool line today, but have a lot to go to meet my word count goal today. I'm not worried yet, because I know when the words are there they come easily. I just hope they show up soon. Like tomorrow. :)

    Keep writing!
