Birth of a Novel Week 5

Week 5

  • Every Friday post a quick update on how you're doing on your writing projects.
  • It can be combined with Camp Nano or whatever personal goals you've set.
  • All you need is a line or two added to the beginning or end of whatever post you already had planned for the day.
  • Then visit the others in the list to encourage them to keep moving forward.
Help spread the word so we have more folks to visit.

This has been a hard week. I have not been in a good mood. At all. Usually I try and present the positive aspects of my life online. I mean, who wants to read a downer post? However, there just isn't much positive to say today.

Writing was nonexistent this week. I wanted to write, but it just never happened. Instead I've spent sleepless nights and wasted days. I can't even say I accomplished much in my personal life outside of writing either. It's been a long, bleak and lonely kind of week. And I don't really know why.

Sorry, that's what it's like to be a girl. You can be sad for absolutely no reason. It isn't something we choose, but there it is. This was a week where I felt fat, old, uninspired and uninspiring. Like a failure at everything.

Don't worry, I know that isn't true, but it doesn't stop me from feeling that way sometimes.

Grasping at straws, I can say one positive thing happened this week. I sent my revised manuscript to my publisher. So, I'm not a complete failure, yet.

I hope your week went better than mine. Please tell me about it. I could use some happy news.

  1. Sad and moody? Naw, women are never like that!
    You did send your manuscript to your publisher, so it wasn't a wasted week.
    Hope next week is better for you.

  2. Oh boy have I had weeks like those! As for progress, I only have the last 3 pages to revise (ie the end and the most important part except for the beginning) so I am very close to being 'done' though we all know that being done with a manuscript doesn't ever really mean done.

  3. It's been a sleepless week here too, and I didn't get much writing done either. But I'm super excited about our anthology!

  4. I absolutely love your title, Demon Rising. gives me chills.

    I had one of the worst weeks in a long time also. Not because of writing but personal. It's one of those times when family can't help. *sigh*
    If I hug you will you give me a hug back? Maybe we'll get through it together.

  5. The off days and weeks are the worst. I hope you're out of the funk now or the weekend will lift you out of it and you can be super productive next week.

  6. *sigh* It's now 3:30 and I'm just now getting home. All morning was spent in Fayetteville with end of band camp stuff. That was fun. After that was 1 crazy hour of mopping all my floors for a house showing. I loaded all 4 kids, 3 dogs and 1 granny into the van and we wandered around for 40 minutes, at which time the realtor called to say the showing was pushed back additional 40 minutes.

    In the end, my oldest daughter was able to drop us off right when she needed to leave for work. We're sharing a car at the moment, so it was a bit stressful. Worked out though, so that's good!

    @Alex, thanks for the kind words.
    @Marcy, go, go, go!
    @Beth, I've started mapping out my story!
    @Huntress, here's a virtual hug! <<<>>>
    @Patricia, I hope so too.

  7. Yep, I've had those weeks. I'm so sorry. But this too shall pass...

    (Now I don't feel so bad about skipping writing today. I know I should, but it's nearly 8 PM, and I just don't want to.)
